ON THE BACK BURNER

If you are what you eat, then you also have to be what your family is.I was thinking that our kids missed all of the family drama and the nutty personalities that I had growing up. We were too mainstream and our kids didn't have all of the drama that my family, at least , had. I had an Uncle that was a professional gambler. Uncle Jake always had silver dollars in his pocket to hand out to me. I discovered Lipton's chicken noodle soup in his kitchen. Then I had an uncle Louie that was in the scrap metal business---really he was a junk man. It must have been good, because he was the richest one in the bunch. Now my kids don't know about gamblers and junk men. They know Doctors, lawyers and writers. Where's the fun in that. Bore--ing.
