ON THE BACK BURNER

I heard a sound , unrelated to what I was doing. It made me remember a sound that I have not heard in 10 years. The sound of a snow shovel hitting pavement. Whatever I just heard was not that sound. I think it was Cricket snoring. Then I remembered that I don't hear the sound of tires spinning in alley ways as a car got stuck in the icy snow , getting out of the garage. Those were the sounds of winter. Or the city snow plow hurtling down our street at 3 AM. I never think about those things anymore. I can now understand how living in Paradise can take the stress out of your life and contribute to a longer life. And that heavy wet snow that leads to heart attacks as you clear your sidewalk. All of those activities gone for good. And leaf raking. Most of the trees here don't shed. After a heavy rain, palm fronds are easy to just pick up and put in a pile by the curb. I occasionally hear a buzz saw working on tree removal. But someone else is doing it, so it isn't in my jurisdiction. The worse weather related problem I have right now is that my sliders have dust from the wind blowing off of the golf course. Don't feel sorry for me. I do windows.
