ON THE BACK BURNER

I was thinking about cars that we have owned. Two of them are no longer being made. When we got married , we had a Nash. Whoever hears of a Nash any more ? Then we had no car for at least 8 years. We lived in the city and cabs were very available. That was followed by an AMC, American Motors Corporation yellow station wagon. It was our mellow yellow. By that time we had three kids and a house in Evanston. What ever happened to American Motors ? History, I guess. Then we had two VW's. A bus and a Bug. We had the best fun in that Bus. We took trips to N.Y., DC, N.O., Boston, around Illinois, riding around Lake Michigan. Driving through the South in that van was a little scary. We had a few encounters with "Good Old Boys" , with rifles displayed in their rear windows, who took us for Hippies. We wouldn't have minded the label, but we were more scared then flattered. The Bug was totaled and luckily, our daughter who was driving it wasn't hurt. Why did we get rid of the Bus ? I have to remember why. Then came the Chrysler cars. We have had three. They seem to be nice, conservative cars. I think my next car should be an eyebrow raiser, like a sport car. Maybe a jeep. Or a small truck. I bought a lottery ticket, maybe I'll get all three. !
