ON THE BACK BURNER

I have been to more funerals in the last months than I have in years. During the eulogies I have learned so much about the person who died. Most of the time, that person has something to teach me. Today, that person was 96 years old and left children and their spouses respecting her, loving her and being a friend of hers. That's pretty special. To live so many years and go out with your family having funny stories, loving stories to share with the Congregation. A few weeks earlier, I attended a funeral of a person who was the glue for his family. The remarks were so heartfelt from his family that I went home with a message that I want to give to my own children. Start thinking of amusing, loving stories about your parents so you can say such nice things about us.. and mean them. But I want to edit them first.
