ON THE BACK BURNER

We have a doggie truce in our house. I have tuned into the signs that indicate that an attack is about to occur. Like when I was Mother to a bunch of kids, as opposed to now when I feel like I am the kid and they know better (Right), I can give that Mom stare and the feisty dog backs off. I never realized how powerful that stare was, but I can still pull it out when it is necessary.I haven't used the "mom look" in years. It feels good that I still have it. My Mother had it. One look , even across a room, and I felt like I had been slapped. I don't think Bob's Mother had that looked. Maybe it was an Eastern European thing. I got the " look" a lot. I dished it out ,too, when we had four kids running around the house. I couldn't say ,"wait until your Father comes home", because Bob had his office at home. I always thought that my Mother had eyes in the back of her head. She told me that she did, and I believed it for a long time. My kids were smarter, they wanted proof. That's when I polished "the look".
