On Dec. 7th , I was in Israel. I noticed that no one made any mention of Pearl Harbor being attacked, or that this was the day the US declared war on Japan. I never forget this date. I know just where I was when I heard, I know just what I was doing,
I know who I was with. I thought that it was interesting that no mention was made of this event, but then I realized that I wasn't reading any papers, my daughter didn't have a TV , so I was in a vacuum. I mentioned the date to my son in law and he hadn't
remembered the date , until I asked him. I wonder if other countries think about that date. Maybe now it is just a date in a history book. I was only 10 but I knew it was important and would have some impact on me. I remember rationing, oleo with the little
yellow "egg " that had the coloring to make it look like butter.I remember standing in line to get a Hershey Bar and Fleerer's bubble gum. Those were not the good old days, but when you are 10 and your parents are with you, you think they are.
