Nov.27 I never realized that there was much that could go wrong with a toasted cheese sandwich in a restaurant. Maybe it's the way I asked the waiter for one. I ordered a toasted cheese sandwich, I got a cheese sandwich . But it was a cheese sandwich
on white bread that had been toasted. I can see now , in retrospect , I got what I asked for. Toasted cheese to my waitress was white bread toasted,with American cheese. Period. Lord knows where she grew up. I have my doubts about this restaurant and I will
not go back for a second try. Then , the other day, I met a friend for lunch. I ordered a toasted cheese sandwich. This time my cheese was slightly melted, but the bread was still toast. White bread toasted. Where was the butter ,where was that cheese oozing
out of the sides.Maybe I am not asking for it in the right manner. I know that you are to question the waiter about dairy products or wine in a dish if you have allergies. Or if you are on a diet, you are expected to ask how a dish is prepared. But a toasted
cheese sandwich ?! Next time, I will ask for details on how this sandwich is made. Toasted cheese sandwiches are right up there with PB and J. Either you know how to make one or you don't. PS. The PB goes on first.
