ON THE BACK BURNER

Thanksgiving I looked up a definition of "pilgrim". It defined the word as one who goes on a sacred journey. Very early Christians made pilgrimages to the Holy Land to walk and see where Jesus was born and lived. People from India go to the Ganges River to cleanse themselves. The Pilgrims came to America on a sacred journey for the freedom to worship as they choose. As I eat our Thanksgiving meal, I want to remind myself that there is a lot of shared history between me and the first Pilgrims. They may not have done everything politically correct, and we haven't corrected all of the hurts , but I'll try and remember this message to me and do what I can on my own sacred journey. Happy Thanksgiving .
