ON THE BACK BURNER

Many years ago, I was called home to New Orleans because my sister was gravely ill and not expected to survive. I left a cold Chicago and arrived in N.O. to a warm, bright blue sky day. I remember thinking, how can anyone die on such a beautiful day. And she didn't. Now I am looking out at a beautiful blue sky. Not a cloud to see. And I am thinking, "how can there be so much distrust and murders and just bad things in the world, when the sky is so beautiful"? The blue sky isn't answering me. What if everyone just looked up at the beautiful blue sky . And then do something good for the rest of the world, like maybe no killings today, no hunger, no violence,no threats. I don't think this is too much to ask. Let it begin with me.
