ON THE BACK BURNER

I have been watching a hawk, sit on a post on the golf course, while it was raining cats and dogs. Maybe that's exactly what he is waiting for. I'm not letting Cricket out, that's for sure. This bird is crazy. He seems to be enjoying this hard rain. He jumped down for a few minutes and then flew back on the perch. It has now stopped raining and he flew away. We have a number of squirrels around the place. Do you think he is waiting for the rain to flush them out. It is survival of the fittest in the animal world. Yesterday, we saw two beautiful cardinals. I don't see as many of them as I'd like. They were on a small tree right outside of my sliders. By the time I got my camera, they were long gone. And a friend of Crickets(she gives him two kitty kibbles that she carries in her right pocket ,every time she meets Cricket) says that yesterday they took a 6 foot alligator from the pond near her condo. I think we are living in a nature preserve. Along with the squirrels, hawk, and the alligator, I sometimes see a blue jay or two and a few bunnies , not counting the many egrets that are busy pecking away on the golf course. Plus the family of three sandhill cranes. And too numerous too mention, geckos. Now that I mention it, it is like living in a nature preserve.
