I saw on TV that they were having a comic book convention at Javit's Center in New York. I was there a few years back to pick up my race packet for the New York Marathon, which as I remember, will be in a few weeks. That was so exciting. I remember
how proud of myself I was as I got from JFK airport to the Javit's Center, all by myself. I dragged my suitcase through the gigantic hall and got my number to pin on my shirt and all of the other stuff they throw into a big plastic goodie bag. The goodie bag
is two fold. You have your race number on it and race day, you put everything into it that you want when you finish the race. You give it to a volunteer and at the end of the race, it's magic, but it's there. With the medal that you get when you finish, you
can ride the subway back to wherever you need to be. In my case, it was a Park Slope stop. I had to go down the stairs into the subway backwards because I couldn't get my quads to go down front wise. Oh ,the memories and how I miss running. Even when I hurt,
I loved it.
