It isn't any cooler. The leaves are not turning. There are a lot of acorns dropping, so that must mean something to the oak trees. I see squirrels eating from the pine cones. I even saw a wooly caterpillar, who got up a wee bit early. But it is still
summer here in Florida. The gulf waters are in the 80's. Back when we lived near Lake Michigan, we couldn't go into the water until August and then it was for a short time because it felt as if your feet were turning into blocks of ice. This would be the time
of year that I would start looking at the LLBean catalogue, picking out new sno-boots and another flannel shirt. I even had flannel lined blue jeans. I miss that a little, but not that much. We'd order our wood for the fireplace, call the guy who put up our
very heavy , old, wood framed, original to the house storm windows. Then call the furnace man who would come to service and clean the furnace. We named our furnace, Rudy. Do I miss those days ? Nah, not really. It's just a romantic memory of the good old days.
