ON THE BACK BURNER

I had to tell my daughter ,in Israel, that there had been a terrorist attack there. She wasn't aware and wasn't very upset. She reminded me that when we lived in Chicago, bad things happened and we still lived there. I am reminded that my daddy was concerned when we told him we were moving to the Chicago . He was sure that gangsters lurked near by. I have met some and they were just like the rest of us.. if you overlooked some things. I learned from my gangster connection that you never sit with your back to the door. Go for your back being where you can watch the room. Good lesson. You never know. And , if you are in a public dining room and the police come in, you leave. Back door. Really. I've never had to do that, but I know to do it if I have to. You learn from your friends.
