ON THE BACK BURNER

I am going to add to my confession of yesterday. I like the lights to be on in every room. When I come into a house, I want the lights on to welcome me. I want to see the lights on when I pull into the car port. When I go room to room, I leave the lights on. A dark room is not a friendly room. I conserve in other ways. I turn the water off while I am brushing my teeth. This is new for me. I use to leave the water running. Then I read how wasteful this is. I do try to be environmentally correct, in some things. I recycle. I car pool when I can. I just need the lights on, though. A dark house makes me sad. I went to sleep with a hall light on until I got married. I also had to close the closet door. You never know. I do turn off the TV if I leave the room for any length of time. My parents, when we finally got a TV, kept it on all of the time, through dinner, after dinner, all of the time. The story goes that Bob had to ask my parents to turn off the TV , so he could get their attention to ask their permission to marry me. I think the Ed Sullivan show was on. They must have said yes.. and turned on the TV again.
