ON THE BACK BURNER

Today I meet two people while I was out with Cricket. One is an older woman (always the person is older) who I have had the same conversation with, at least three times. It's as if she never met me. I pretend that she hasn't and we do a routine that reminds me of "Ground Hog Day". She is happy when our conversation ends and I just walk away shaking my head. Then I met a dog walker that looked familiar. Of course . She used to live here and left to go back "home". A mistake she says. Now her stars are lined up as they should be and she is back. She has a new puppy. Old Sadie died before she moved away. That may have been why she moved. Interestingly, Cricket has stopped in front of her old villa, every time we walk that way. Little Sadie must have made an impression on Cricket, too. By the time we get home from these early morning walks, Cricket and I have met friends, old and new, we have looked at trees, checked the sky and watch flocks of birds leave their over night accommodations for their day time activities. Quite a way to start a day. I recommend it.
