ON THE BACK BURNER

I went back to my roots tonight. I served a dish of shredded turnips . I love this dish , but it's been years since I made it. I don't remember Bob even eating it. I liked it so much, that by dinner time, I didn't have too much to serve. I kept nibbling it as I walked by the dish. I thought that Bob was more genteel than I am , and wouldn't like just a bowl of cold shredded salad, raw onion ,served with oil, salt and black pepper. Guess you can't judge a man by his early life. I know that my family were peasants in the old country. My husband had relatives who fought in "The war between the states".They came over to this country so long ago that when I met Bob, that is what impressed me. Who knew that he would like a shredded turnip salad. I underestimated that he too could like turnips. It's nice to know that we have so much in common.
