ON THE BACK BURNER

When I was a kid, I believed that I would get everything I really, really wanted. Why not. My sister and I were each only children. Being 8 years younger, we both felt that we were only kids. I got everything I asked for. I guess I didn't ask for anything unreasonable. My Daddy brought me something every day. I didn't know that a pair of shoe laces wasn't that big a deal. I remember getting a two wheel bike during the war. Who gets a two wheeler during a war ? Balloon tires. Basket. It was second hand and cost ten bucks. I had that bike until I got married. I did know that this bike was special . Every now and then, I got a small package of Sen Sen. It was like a mouth refresher.. I wonder where he had been for lunch ! I'd rather have the shoe laces. Did I say that my Daddy had a shoe store. Did I say that I know how to fit shoes. ? It's always good to have a skill to fall back on.
