I had no intention of learning anything more than why I stopped running, when I started these books about habits. But I've learned how I've been subjected to scrutiny without giving my permission. Here is a question and don't look at the next sentences
,yet. Which way do you turn when you walk into the grocery store ? Right ? Right ! The marketers know this already. What do you see first? fruits and veggies? Yes. Why.? Because later, when you come to the ice cream or Doritos, you'll think , unconsciously,
"I bought healthy fruits and veggies, I can give myself a treat. I deserve it". Marketers knew this already. We are in the habit of turning right and the rest is history. Did you know that stores like Target will send different coupons to different families,
even on your block, in the same mailing because they know who is pregnant, who has a toddler and who needs a noodle for the swimming pool. "They" know our habits and we use the coupons as a cue to buy stuff, (habit ,) and get the product, (our reward) , Scary.
I'm still not running, but the next time I go to the grocery, I am going to turn left and go straight to the gelato. I'll show "them".
