I am getting into Habits. Big Time. Whether or not this makes me start running again , I can't say. But I have "cues "now that I can relate to about "habit" and "reward". I've learned how Phillip Phelps gets into his zone to win and how Coach Dungy
teaches his player how to make their playing a habit, so they don't have to think, just do it. It is interesting that ,unwillingly, I am learning more than I bargained for. My learning curve has been challenged. I am fascinated with successful companies policies.
For one, Starbuck's puts their workers through a vigorous learning program. So good ,happy, behavior becomes routine ,a habit to be nice to the customer. It makes Starbuck's look good. They do something they call LATTE. L-listen, A-acknowledge the complaint,
T-Take action by solving the problem, T-thank them, E-explain how the problem happened. These words become "habit" because they are practiced until it becomes routine and the employees do it without thinking. Like the football player and the swimmer. That's
when it becomes a habit. I think I have to do some thinking about this. What cue do I need to start running.? I need something that I see immediately when I wake up. Like my running shoes. Then I need the habit. Put them on without thinking and just go. The
reward. Feeling good about getting back into my old routine. The only thing wrong with this is that I know all this and I'm still sitting.
