Am I the only one who remembers Jean Nate products and Sub Rosa deodorant ?
We would put the Jean Nate in the fridge and splash it on our faces when it got really hot. Both could
be bought at the 5&10 cent store. I loved Woolworth's. I could walk up and down those aisles and find everything I could ever want. Coin purses, glass iced tea spoon straws. Those were glass straws with a spoony thing for stirring your iced tea. We
drank a lot of sweet tea in the south.I wish that I had saved those straws.Sitting above the store in a crows nest loft was the store maager. He was probably spying on customres and counting his money at the same time. That's what I thought. That loft, with
the big window, made shoppers feel guilt. The 5&10 was my department store. That's probably where I developed my shopping strategy. I have to touch everything in a store, at leat once.I still have that philosophy.
I didn't get an allowence, so I must have gone with my Mother. I don't remember her ever buying anything there, but I know that we sat at the lunch counter and had a drink and a piece of pie. I still love counter service. Except the stools are too far
away from the counter. I need to sit closer.
