My new blog will be called "On the Back Burner". I decided on this name because the column that I write for our congregation's monthly bulletin is called,"On the Front Burner". My thoughts are from my placing my life in
a holding pattern. There is so much that I still want to do. I figure that I only have 20 more years to do things, and you know how fast time moves when you are 80 years old. And eighty is old. I don't like the expression, "eighty years young". That's an insult.
I know that I have wrinkles, that I wear glasses, that I am shrinking. I am proud of all of this. I have reached this day in reasonably good shape, with a good attitude toward life and I celebrate that. Eighty years old is a mark of respect and distiction.
Do not take it away from me. There are things on my bucket list that are on the back burner until I can get to them. I want to ride a motorcycle on Trail Ridge Road in Colorado. I want to have a driver drive me in a motor home, stopping for peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches along scenic roads. I am thinking that this would be a great time for the Grandchildren to take turns driving me in this motor home. I have it all planned out. They could take 7 to 8 day turns and we could see America. I know, I could do this
in a car, but a motor home sounds like so much more fun. And gas is getting cheaper. I can bring my pet. Cool.Come along on this new journey. It's called life.
