ON THE BACK BURNER

This was the kind of day where you want to be outside doing yard work. That thought didn't last long and I spent most of the day getting ready for my upcoming trip back to Venice. First the right suitcase. I pulled the handle up to drag it from the studio to my pad, and then couldn't get it to go back down. Maybe another suitcase is what I need. I can't remember what clothes I left in my closet in Venice. From here, I am bringing bare minimum, so I hope I left enough. I put back most of what I had laid out, which is what all the travel blogs tell you to do. Actually, I can go to a larger suitcase since I will be checking the suitcase anyway. Dixie is considered my carry on. Poor Dixie. I pay over $100. for her to be encased in a travel crate and pushed under someones seat. I also need a certificate from the Vet that says she is fit to travel. Last year that was $65 each way. And no one looked at it. I decided to also organize the pantry.  My pantry is very deep and because I can't see what is in the very back of a shelf, I keep a list taped to the inside of the door. This has worked well for me, but because this is real life, this only lasts so long. New list and tidy shelves led me to the fridge. My fridge is getting empty. That's a good thing. I did bake a pumpkin and a Hubbard squash that my grandson brought several weeks ago from The Farmer's Market. The pumpkin was like sugar. I had to stop just eating it as I put it in a baggie for freezing. The squash needs brown sugar and butter. Maybe tomorrow I'll get to the yard. The weather report is a good one.
