ON THE BACK BURNER

Every time I check out at the grocery store, there is an ad with a realtor,s picture( she has very red ( not found in nature)hair, and her unoriginal, slogan," I sell dirt". I thought of this ad as I played in the dirt today. I bought two garlic bulbs at the garden shop. $ 2.99 an ounce.Total, $24.00. At this price, I wanted my garlic to have the best growing conditions. Dixie sunned while I turned over the area I plan to use for my garlic. I left one tomato plant because it is still producing, but I turned over what was left of the pattypan squash. I had forgotten how many small rocks there are in that space. My pitch fork was always hitting what sounded like a small boulder, but when I turned over the soil, it was a puny rock. Next I will dump manure on it and turn it over again. That's tomorrows project. Then I can plant the garlic. According to Google, I separate the cloves, soak them overnight in 1 teaspoon of baking soda and water and then plant them, pointy side up. Latter I worked on the area where we had set up the fire pit and some great Adirondack chairs that I got free ,just for asking, at a yard sale .We cleaned up this area ,with the chairs for the wedding, but it didn't get much use. The brush that I had cut down grew over the summer , so I chopped it down again. This time we are going to prep it during the winter, to plant another apple tree there. By this time, Dixie, who is not an outdoor dog, wanted to call it a day ,get on the couch, and take a nap. Sounded good to me , too.
