ON THE BACK BURNER

I feel guilty being here in PT when my friends are in hurricane mode. I keep up with their news and comments on FaceBook and I am so relieved that they have not been physically hurt by the storm. Repairs and mopping up are hard work, with expenses that weren't  expected, but it could have been so much worse. To make myself feel better about not being there ,I am trying to keep writing about my mundane, every day life to sort of try and distract everyone. So here goes. Today was Family meal and it was one of the best. I went Turkish. The center piece was hard boiled egg that are then sautéed in  butter( a lot) dried mint, paprika and red pepper flakes. Along with a Naam type bread to soak up the butter, it was a winner. We had dishes of Feta, Paneer cheese, olives, and , juicy tomatoes . I am trying to eat a winters amount of fresh tomatoes in a few weeks. My grandson has been bringing me heirloom tomatoes and I am so spoiled. I never thought that I could eat so many tomatoes and still want more. I had made basil salt, which I think , might be my own invention, and that is what I sprinkle on those tomatoes, my mouth waters thinking about how good it is. There are only 3 more weeks of the Farmers Market so I can't let up on my tomato frenzy.
