ON THE BACK BURNER

Everything relating to my trip is going well.My transporter was right on time. 5 AM. And small world moments are every where. The drivers Mom lives near Venice .Right now, I am living her life. At 93, a few years older than me, she is moving to the NW to be nearer kids and grandkids. The AmTrak station ,like a number of train stations, is beautiful. Built in 1870 ish , the marble and tile work has been restored and with armed security and drug dogs sweeping the station every few minutes, it is the safest place in town. On board the train, I was disappointed to see that I had a seat mate. The train is surprisingly crowded. I guess that I'm  not the only one trying out what it is like to be able to travel again. And it is damn cold. I brought a blanket with me because everything that I read said to do that. And at the last minute ,I added a cape to my sweater,. I am also wearing a long sleeved turtle neck shirt and a short sleeved T over that.I had decided to throw in my winter hat. I am wearing it, plus the hood of my cape is over my head. In hind sight , I  wish that I had brought gloves along. My fingers are numb. It is that cold. So far, the only warm spot that I have found is the bathroom and I really don't want to spend a lot of  time in there.
