ON THE BACK BURNER

I pulled up the few corn plants that I tried to grow. It was probably my fault that they looked so bad. I haven't been watering them enough. I think corn likes the mid west. Our summer here is just not long enough or hot enough. The temperature didn't make it to 72 today. The fog was quite heavy and I could hear the fog horns most of the morning . I like the fog. It is misty , not quite rainy, grey, and it smells of the sea. And it doesn't last too long. Now the only living plants in my garden is a producing tomato plant and a squash vine. The broccoli  grew beautiful leaves, but I think it missed the part where it was supposed to flower, bloom and produce something that I could eat. It is holding on to its place in the. garden. I can't pull them out. I will have to dig instead of pulling. I've gotten some beautiful squash from the few plants that I put in. My zucchini muffins were so good that I think I will make them with my yellow squash.  I think that they are interchangeable. I'll check with Farmer Google.
