I figured out how to win friends and influence strangers. Wear a bright red sweat shirt that has the word WISCONSIN in bright white written across the front. On our Saturday yard sale- ing, we went to the UU Fellowship book
sale. Not only did we have to put on masks , we had to show proof of being inoculated. By now, many places give you the option of masking, but I notice that employees are still masked. I had on my red sweat
shirt and in 10 minutes, I met 5 people who either came from the same suburb in Chicago, as we did, or vacationed in Wisconsin every year. My son had on his company's sweat shirt with their logo and he got stopped several times to talk boats.Being a sailing
community, that is not surprising. People know your sail boat by name. It's a tight community and boats don't retire or leave town. They have a history that follows them, even when they are sold to the next owner. After the book sale, we went to order our
lunch . As we were waiting outside for our sandwiches, my son saw someone across the street whose boat he knew. Just as I know the dogs name before I know their owners name, people here know the boat name and then they met the owner .
It's what rocks your boat, I guess.
