ON THE BACK BURNER

In preparation for my 4 day train  excursion, I thought that it might be a good idea to have a small project .to go to when I get tired of looking out of the window.  expect to be looking out of the window most of the time, but I plan on bringing a book that I will be reading for my Book club . For the other random moments, I will knit. I haven't knitted in months. I was working on an afghan, but put it aside because it just became monotonous. I'll go back to it some other time. I decided to knit a kerchief/ scarf. It can get a little blowy in the winter and a scarf sounded like a nice , practical item. I wanted to buy local, so at 11 o'clock, when the stores open here, I drove to town. I forgot that there is a huge outdoor music festival this week end. It's called " Thing". Really. It's like the Lapapalooza festivals I remember from Chicago. Beer trucks are rolling into town, venders are set up, the ferries are running overtime. People are everywhere. Some with camping equipment, trailers, bikes. Humanity is every where. i drove around 4 blocks, several times and I finally found a parking space. I walked a block to the yarn store and... it was closed. They will reopen at another location . Bummer. Then I remembered that there was one other yarn store in PT. I couldn't exactly remember where it was, but it was in this business area, so I walked 4 blocks and didn't  see it. I figured that I must have not remembered where it was.  I walked back to the car. Going home, I retraced my route in the car, and if I had gone one more block, I would have been there. Too late. I couldn't stop now. There was too much traffic behind me, no one was giving up their parking space, so I just drove on. I guess my project will wait until the music festival,is over and I can find a place to park.
