ON THE BACK BURNER

I heard that today was really hot. I was comfortable. I think it hit 80. My pod is tucked around trees ,I have cross ventilation and I am perfectly content. For a southern gal, 80 is temperate. One concession that I do make to the temperature is that I walk Dixie later in the day  . We have different routes that we take ,depending on the rime of day, the sun, the rain and which direction Dixie wants to go. Morning walk is always the same. She has no choice. Leave the yard, take a right, walk two blocks, turn around, retrace walk, get to yard, come in,eat. Dixie and I spend so much time together that she won't walk with anyone else. That was a problem when I went to Colorado this spring. My son and grandson outsmarted her. They carried her the two blocks, put her down and she ran home.I do hope that she stopped to do her business. I haven't told her that I will be taking a few days off to take the Coast Starlight train to LA. I'd better line up my dog walkers, too.
