ON THE BACK BURNER

Saturday yard sale day. I must be getting jaded because I couldn't find anything to spend my allowance on. My son, on the other hand, found a gym locker. That was a great buy. Today was the kind of day that made you want clean windows, and that is what I did. Until I needed help moving the ladder. The side of my pod that faces the woods was just too heavy with growing things. I got the legs of the ladder caught in a tangle of thorny bushes and I needed to call on the troops to move it. There are  these bushes that have such dangerous  thorns on them ,that I designate them as lethal. It's too bad because they have a sweet little bloom on them, but they are very invasive and hurt. Our temperatures are in the low 50's at night and high 60's during the day. I am hoping for some 70's this coming week. It's almost August and I am still waiting for summer. It'll have to get a little warmer for my tomatoes to develop. I saw a few baby toms but mostly I am still getting flowers. I have some squash and a pumpkin hiding under some healthy leaves. I hope they make it to maturity. Last year, I was disappointed because my pumpkin died on the vine. I wanted it for Halloween. I do already know that I want to plant garlic for next year. I hear that I have to plant it this fall. Hope I remember.
