I made my reservations, paid for my trip and now I have to wait until September for the actual train ride. What started out as a very low budget trip,$101.00 one way, without my 10% discount for having the honor of being a senior, has turned into an overnight 4 star hotel stay, plus travel insurance. I seriously considered just waiting overnight at the train station in LA for my morning train. The agent said," absolutely no way".
The crime rate in LA is staggering , the station is in skid row and he would not let me do it. My son agreed with him, so the biggest expense that I now have is a one night stay in a beautiful Beverly Hills Hotel. It could be worse. The travel insurance I
got just to be safe. it's a long time until September and the world is crazy. The agent and I are now on first name basis. His name is Dave and I have his phone number, in case you want to schedule a trip on AmTrak. He did have a terrible time with my last
name, but he finally got it right. How hard is it. I spent my first date with Bob learning how to spell it.
