ON THE BACK BURNER

I planted about 12 strawberry plants behind my pod.A number of the plants had ripe berries, which I take as a good sign for a crop next year. I did eat the berries as I planted. Now that the deer can't get to the plants, I still have rabbits and birds. So it was a case of me first. It is in the high 50 's right now , but tomorrow ,it will get up to the low 60's. Before Covid, I bought this trailer to get away from the Florida heat during the summer months. That is all that I expected from it. Well, I sure did get away from the heat. Now I need to get back to Florida so I can warm up. People here go to the beach to walk, not to swim or sun bathe. And, I just thought of this, there are no pretty shells. The beaches are mostly small rocks. There is one sandy beach and I have no explanation as to why the sand is there and not at some other beaches. Probably has to do with currents and the shape of the shore line. I know the Native Americans used the one sandy beach as a landing spot for their canoes. A few summers ago, several Alaskan tribes re enacted a landing with highly decorated canoes. I am calling their boats canoes, but I can't  recall what they are really called. They take from 8 to 10 people to paddle them and they are ocean worthy.I am infatuated with rocks, and there is no shortage of those. The empty ,wooded lots across from us ,now has an almost finished house on it. The house blends in well, so we aren't too unhappy. They have a lot of really nice rocks that I want, but the sign says NO TRESPASSING, so I won't take them until the owner shows up. I'd like to see the house ready for occupancy. I hate that porta john at the curb.
