ON THE BACK BURNER

Familly meal day. My son and DiL had to pick up their house guests 90 minutes away at another ferry stop. So they completely missed joining us. The ferry here , in PT , goes one place, just like a street  car would. If you are coming from the Seattle - Tacoma airport, you need to take a different ferry, and drive here. Getting to PT can be a challenge sometimes. So there were only 6 of us around the table. My DiL's brother has been officially invited into the family, so he makes number 6. The rain started and stopped before we ate, and the wind hadn't picked up yet, so it was not unpleasant. Monday is the start of the Race to Alaska,, where anything that floats is eligible to enter the race. My son invited me to come along to hear his brass band play the sailers off . Since it is a 4 AM wake up call, I declined. The winds are expected to be pretty strong ,which isn't as good for a sail boat as it sounds. I hope those who are doing the race in kayaks wear life jackets. I understand that there are no support boats. I'm glad that my son is on land playing his sousaphone and not in his dry docked sailboat.
