ON THE BACK BURNER

I am so disappointed . Today was my volunteer day and I was excited to be part of " dressing" 4 farm worker women from a local farm. Our usual hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 10 am to 2 pm. These woman made an appointment to come at 4, which was not our usual time. The President called for volunteers to come at this special opening, to accommodate the farm workers. I walked Dixie early,I got all spiffed up. Lipstick, bra. I was ready to work in any way that I could. 8 volunteers showed up and one farm worker came. I stayed around for a short time and then felt that I could be more useful getting ready for Paseach. I had heard that there are many more volunteers in Port Townsend then there are people needing their services, and this might be true. This is a community that didn't have a public radio station, so some people got together and bought a station and now we have a public radio station. I don't know how you do this , but if you have deep pockets, I guess you know how to do these things. Coming home early from volunteering did mean that I could get a head start on setting the table. Our table is a great Danish table that we had in Evanston. I passed it on to a grandson, who now is using it here in PT. That table has traveled from Evanston, Illinois to Washington DC, to now, PT., Washington. It has hosted many a Passover Seder. Let's see how it likes Washington state.
