ON THE BACK BURNER

The sun was so warm, that while I was planting pea shoots, I actually had to take off my jacket and hat. Then the sky turned gray, and, wait for it... it started hailing. Go figure.  I did have time to take a picture, but it's hard to see hail. After that, it got cooler and I guess it's winter again. I have my thermostat  set at 70  and it just kicked in.  I finished reading the western cowboy adventure that my Grandson brought me. That reminded me of when I was about 10 or 11, and I went to the Prytania Theatre every Friday night and saw a continuation of a cowboy serial as part of whatever was being shown there as the feature. I went for the serial. have no memory of any movie, but I remember the serials. Tom Nix, Gene Autry, Dale Evans and Roy Rogers. The Lone Ranger and Tonto. The serial didn't end until the cowboy kissed the horse. He never kissed a woman. After the movie, my Daddy would pick me up in our blue and white Chevy. Sometimes my Mother came along and we would  go and get snow cones .Strawberry and pineapple syrup. It's all coming back to me. That was a great age.
