I did my first volunteering today .My interest group at the Association of American University Women has to commit to some community service project. My small group ( we play Mah Jongg twice a month) voted to volunteer at
a service that provides women who need help ,with clothing . The women can be stay at home Mom's, homeless women, women who fled abusive situations. It is open to all women. One client was going to a conference
in DC on mental health. Here in PT, dress is casual, maybe a half step below casual. The women had nothing appropriate for a conference,so she made an appointment here and she was " dressed" from shoes to
scarf. The clothes are not power clothes, they are for ordinary women who need some assistance. I was impressed with how the boutique was arranged. It is not Goodwill.. It is more like a Nordstrom Rack.
The clothes are donated ,displayed as if in a quality department store. The boutique is housed in a section of the new police station, along with the YMCA and the Food Bank. All on one campus. Next week
on my volunteer day, 4 women farm workers have made an appointment to come in. I am looking forward to watching how everything comes together.
