ON THE BACK BURNER

I had a serious thought. A friend has lent me a super warm coat to wear at the wedding. I have been lamenting about what I expect the weather to be. Now,suddenly, it is getting balmy. New thought.. What if it is too warm for this coat that I have been looking forward to wearing. I think that I will wear it anyway and just not zip it closed. Well, that solved that problem. Easy peasy. Tonight, I heard a soft knock at the door. I suspected that it was a family member, because in the dark, who else even knows I am behind the big house. It was my grandson. He didn't  want to get Dixie barking, so he was trying a new approach. It was her bed time, so she didn't try to protect me and was actually quiet.During the day, she is very vocal when one of the kids knocks at the door. The kids respond to Dixie's barking in their own way, which is interesting to analyze. One snaps his fingers at Dixie , and she usually stops, but not always. Another, joins Dixie on the couch and pets her and she usually stops barking. One tries to fool, her by quietly coming in. She usually still barks. When I come home after leaving her alone for a few hours, she barks and whines at me. I usually ask her if I have any messages and then I give her a cookie. I think she likes my method better.
