ON THE BACK BURNER

Port Townsend woke up to a surprise layer of pristine snow. The moon has been extraordinarily  bright, so when I looked out at 4:30 AM, everything looked really bright and white. I looked again, and it was snow. When that cold front met the warm Pacific air, I guess it collaborated by making snow. By the end of the day, only what was in shady spots was still here.  Short and sweet. Dixie spent the day cuddled in a blanket, on the couch. The only thing different about today for her, was the blanket covering. She was wiped out from the trauma of visiting the Vet . I made my N.O. red beans and there is a difference between using dried  beans and canned beans.  I haven't made a from scratch bean dish in a long time . I used a whole lb of dried beans ,which makes a lot of beans. Between my son, me and a grandson, we managed to eat through most of the pot. It's that secret ingredient that made it special ! Nah, it was the company.
