ON THE BACK BURNER

This was not what I planned to write about today. On my Facebook page, I got a message that the one person that I have known the longest in the world, died. I have known this man since 6 th grade at Allen School in N.O. At that time, we were close to the same height. In  high school, he was my first and go to date. We had sororities and fraternities in high school, back in those days. They had twice a year formal dances. That was big time. The girls dressed in gowns, the boys suits. You got a corsage. There was a live band and dances were held in a hotel. I remember going to a drive in with him and at least one other couple . What we did the whole evening was drive back and forth over those bumps that they had .I don't remember parking. We just bounced and laughed hysterically. I guess those bumps were to raise the front end of the car so you had a better field of vision. We had such laughs going fast, in his Dad's car, over those bumps. I liked dancing with him because I always thought that he smelled like apples. Our birthday's are just days apart. I am the older woman by about one week. Does  this mark the end of my childhood. I'm glad that it lasted this long . Rest in peace, AA.
