ON THE BACK BURNER

Today, my daughter cleaned out the drawer in my night stand. In it was a dictionary that had 2000 misspelled words. Then, there were the 10 pairs of ear buds. I have no idea why I had so many. But , in my defense, I kept them all together. Then there were remotes to  electronics that I no longer had. I was actually afraid to throw them away. I guess that I really don't need to save all of that stuff. I thought  that I was good about throwing stuff out. I have met my master. So now, my book cases only have books that I really want. My kitchen drawers have only singles of things that I use and I have lids on my containers. Today wasn't all clean and organize. We went to the Sarasota National Cemetery where Bob is buried. It is like a low rise community. All of the graves, except those with Jewish stars had beautiful Christmas wreathes placed at the bottom of the head stones. No matter where you stood, you could smell the pine. Many of the Jewish graves had the traditional stones placed on them. This is a Jewish tradition ,that to me ,let's me think that Bob knew that we came . I've always liked grave yards. Reading the markers gives a minute of the persons life. There was one stone that had engraved" He lived a Century". And he did . He was 101 when he died. There was a family having a Christmas picnic next to their persons grave. I thought that was special. This military cemetery is peaceful. The stones are all the same, white marble, the grass is green and mowed to precision, the wreathes are fresh , the blue sky, people remembering their loved ones on a sun filled Christmas day ,in Florida ,is all good. I'm glad that we picked this day to visit. It felt alive.
