I've talked before about my three times a week exercise group. There are about 12 regulars, we sit in a square arrangement, all of us wearing face masks. I pull my chair out and away, so that I am a distance from the rest.
We have these typed index cards that have the exercise written out, quite clearly.Everyone takes two cards , randomly. We go in order , reading aloud the instruction and setting a timer, if it is a timed exercise, or counting aloud if
it is an exercise done a certain number of times. Sounds pretty easy. Not if you look around the room at the various ways that people interpret what they are hearing. I am glad for the mask, because I smile a lot in the hour. There
is one lady who always says that we should slow down when we count. She seems to annoy a lot of the people, so the next person will count v-e-r-y slow. She doesn't get it. there is a 5 minute walk break ,which should mean that you walk. There are two of us
that go out side and walk swiftly around the block. And it is a hilly walk. she goes in one direction and I go the opposite direction. It use to be that we would meet half way around the block, and finish about the same time. we noticed that today, she finished
before me. I'm going to have to step it up. The people in the room who are supposed to be walking, are, but at a snail pace and doing a lot of talking. I guess exercising your vocal cords could be a good exercise.
