ON THE BACK BURNER

I am so pleased with Dixie. We went to Seattle to pick up my Colorado daughter. My son wanted Dixie to come along for the drive. I wasn't too keen on it,  but  went along with the suggestion. It is a two hour drive to the  airport. Dixie was terrific. Mostly , she sat on my lap or fell asleep on my legs. Almost to the airport, we stopped at McDonald's. Dixie ordered a small fries, which she ate, one by one. In the cell phone lot, she fell asleep in her carseat, which was on the floor behind my seat. For our trip home, we went the scenic way and took the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge, a 35 minute ride. Dixie walked the deck and didn't flinch when the motor shook  the ferry  and the wind blew. Then we drove the 40 or so miles to PT. I can't believe she was so mellow after she was horrible when I traveled with her by plane. I thought about it and the conclusion that I have come up with is that I had only had her a few weeks when I thrust her into a small carry on case, put her under a seat a, probably scaring the bejemmas out of her. Maybe my trip back to Venice won't be so dramatic ,this time.
