ON THE BACK BURNER

I lead a very quiet life. I haven't expanded my bubble too much. I'm not a scheduled type of person, but my weeks have taken on a schedule without me even knowing it. I know what I do every day. Walk Dixie twice a day. I know that I play MahJongg on one afternoon. I go to exercise class three times a week. I prepare our Sunday family meal. I usually go yard sale- ing on Saturday and have a take out lunch. That's my schedule. So ,when something comes along that is different, I take notice. . Like my walk with Dixie this afternoon. We did one of our four different  walks. I like to change it up and take different paths that visually impaired Dixie can handle. We  were coming through the woods that end at our house.I saw a quilt in a clearing and a pile of stuff. Someone was sleeping in the quilt, right next to the path. There are a lot of homeless people in PT. I see some regulars all of the time, but not this close. It was a little scary to come across someone like this. I wasn't sure if I was in danger from some crazy,or if they suddenly see Dixie and lash out, or if Dixie gets spooked and starts barking. All of these thoughts in a mini second. I just quietly kept my  distance as much as I could and walked the last feet to the road and our driveway. Just then I met a guy walking his dog, and about to enter the woods that I just came out of. I told him about the quilt and possible person in the quilt, because , actually, I didn't stop to check what was in the pile of quilts. He said that he has seen lots of footprints going into the clearing, so he would take notice when he got to the quilts. This makes me a little nervous and I locked my door as soon as I got in. My son will call protective services if the quilt and person is still there in the morning.
