ON THE BACK BURNER

It's windy beyond what is normal. I can actually feel movement from the wind. I absolutely understand why trailers have to be  bolted  to a slab. It has been raining off and on for three days now. I think that the grass has been given a reprieve. It is refreshing to be outside when the rain stops. It smells so good. I get wiffs of the sea, which to me smells like fresh oysters. I don't know why, but that is what I think of when I smell this salty air. When Dixie and I took our afternoon walk, a tree had fallen across the path we took. I thought that I could move it. It looked dried out and feeble. it wasn't movable, by me. My dilemma was to get both of us over, or change direction and walk back the way that we came. I tried picking up Dixie and straddling the log. That didn't work because I needed a hand for me and two hands for  Dixie. Finally, I shoved Dixie through an opening at the bottom and I managed to climb over. Dixie kept trying to go back under the tree and I had to keep telling her to stay while I got over the limb. Our walks aren't usually this exciting.
