ON THE BACK BURNER

I had a discussion with my son as we were driving to Sequim, about what people watch on You Tube, or the internet. I favor extreme ,endurance sports like the Iron Man or Crossing the Continental Divide by Bike.  The discussion started when I made a reference to Down Town Abbey. I think that is the name. I have never watched it, but I assume it is like the soap operas I use to listen to as a kid. I have this mental picture of me coming home for lunch , eating Cambell's cream of tomato soup and my mother listening to Stella Dallas, a woman who was looking for happiness after being born in a little mountain town. I think. I never missed a "Let's Pretend" Saturday morning radio presentation.and I can still sing the theme song," cream of wheat is so good to eat, etc". As we were driving to Sequim, we saw a sign for an estate sale. The car brakes for sales. There was a great console radio, and phonograph , just like the one my parents had in our living room. Phonograph on one side, radio on the other., with all,of the knobs. My son was very tempted to get it, but there was no negotiating  over price and it was too pricey. I bought a comfy pillow for Dixie's bed. So far, she hasn't gone near it.I may be out $ 3.50 . It was on sale because the sale person's pet wouldn't use it, either. That was a sign that I should have paid attention to. Maybe she' ll like it better when it smells like our house.
