ON THE BACK BURNER

I made a second batch of Bubbies pickles. The farm stand lady said that these small cucumbers are her last ones. The price jumped a dollar , too. I think I can understand why the real Bubbie pickles cost $10.00 a jar. They aren't labor intensive, but using fresh dried spices, rather than the ones that I probably had for over a year, plus jars and lids, and factoring in $3.00 a lb. for the fresh cukes... it can add up. Never mind. They are worth it. I am trying to keep my small space from getting cluttered. That  means that I have to think seriously about buying anything at yard sales. Last week, I bought three really nice ceramic flower pots that I plan to pot with some fall flowers. But then where will I show them off. My deck is filled with an umbrella table and chairs. I have a nice sized tree in a pretty big pot, plus some smaller pots of colorful plants. And my cowboy boots. Maybe my new pots can be placed on my two steps. I am not sure that Dixie will be able to handle something on the steps. She sometimes misses a step or hesitates to take that first step. She is not as visually impaired as Noodle was, but she does rely on my being at the other end of her leash. I'm her seeing eye person. This is a huge responsibility. I take it very seriously.
