ON THE BACK BURNER

I finally used one of my home grown onions. I didn't want to use it. I feel very protective of my veggies and I was just looking at them ,instead of using them. It just didn't seem right to use them.I know that the reason for planting and growing the veggies was to eat them,  but I just wanted to see them in a bowl. My cucumbers are going crazy. They just keep popping up. I should give a few away, but ,once again, I planted the seeds, I watered them, I harvested then, I sorta don't want to let them go. Maybe giving them to a nice family might make me feel better. I leave little presents of my labor at the back door of my son and DiL. Won't they be surprised when a pumpkin shows up at their  door step. I planted one pumpkin plant. No one told me that only meant that I would have a full and complete take over of one whole row of garden. My first little pumpkin didn't survive. I don't know why,  but  it didn't mature. I see a lot of blossoms, so there is hope that more will develop and mature.Blackberries are every  where. We have a lot growing on this property and every walk with Dixie is very slow because I stop to pick and eat. The big problem with the berries is that they have many thorns and they hurt. The thorns catch on your clothing and some times when you pull away, the thorn comes with you. I like them best when you  just pick and  eat. Last year, my grandson picked the berries and made a syrupy jam out of them. I just ate  it with a spoon. Forget the bread.
